Meet Peter Hall and Bill Day our June volunteers of the month. Both Peter and Bill became involved with the Meal Center through their church, St. David’s Episcopal Church. They are part of the church group that prepares and serves the meal on the last Tuesday of each month.
When school is in session, Peter and Bill visit 5 New London schools on Fridays to pick up surplus food and deliver it to the Meal Center.
Peter has been involved with the Meal Center for many years, back to before it was at the current location. On Mondays he picks up surplus baked goods from BJs. Before the pandemic, he worked with volunteers from Lighthouse to package the goods for distribution to the Meal Center clients. For now, he is on his own with that job. Peter is very involved in his community and also works with Care and Share in East Lyme to provide food for residents in need.
Bill has been involved with the Meal Center for about 12 years. He has helped with the evening meals. Bill is also very involved with his church community and has been volunteering to do errands and grocery shopping for those in his church who are in need.
Thank you Bill and Peter for your service to the community.
