Meet our April volunteers of the month from Christ the King Church in Old Lyme. This group provides the meal for the second Sunday of the month every other month. The group is composed of John, Rita, Father Joe, Irene, Cheryl and Stephanie. The church has been providing this meal for about 24 years. The cost of the meal is covered by the church parishioners who have been very generous and supportive of the Meal Center. Prior to COVID, a hot meal was served. With all meals converted to take out, the meals have become either sandwiches or picnic style meals.
The pictured meal of chicken, potato salad, 3 bean salad and bread was cooked by Bill Lacy at the Coast Guard Academy. The volunteers packaged all 150 meals for take out. Thank you to Christ the King Church and all of their volunteers for their dedication to feeding the hungry of our community.
