Meet our November volunteer of the month: Robert Watson. Robert has been a volunteer at the Meal Center for 13 months. When COVID became an issue and many volunteers stepped back, Robert came forward to offer his help. Robert volunteers for the lunch meal on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. He can usually be found at the front door screening the guests for COVID symptoms and welcoming them to the lunch meal. Robert also helps with stocking food and whatever tasks are needed to keep the center running smoothly.
Robert grew up knowing what it felt like to go hungry and is happy that others can dine at the center instead of having to go hungry. He had a rocky young adulthood and is proud of the fact that he has turned his life around and is now in the position to help others through his volunteer work and his job as a personal care assistant. He is a role model and hopes to motivate others to clean up their lives and give back to the community. Robert is most happy when he is helping others. Thank you, Robert, for your service to the Meal Center and your community.
