The New London Community Meal Center is excited to welcome MaryAnn Martinez as our first ever Executive Director.
MaryAnn was born and raised in New London County, but has worked and lived all around the country. She is excited about the opportunity to return home and take on this meaningful and challenging job at the Meal Center.
MaryAnn has a Master’s of Science degree in sustainable food systems and a Doctoral degree in leadership and change. She brings years of expertise in non-profit and local government in the areas of health and nutrition, substance abuse prevention, and other social issues. She also has practical food systems experience as a vegetable and livestock farmer, in both for-profit and social enterprises.
In addition to her work with non-profits and food systems she is an independent consultant who works with organizations and communities mapping social systems to ignite discussion around issues of local and regional food systems, food insecurity, food justice and equity.
When she is not at work, MaryAnn can usually be found in her garden, running in the woods, playing scrabble, or hanging out with family, friends, and her dog Sid.
